Arabic Reading Text: The Prophet’s Birth

In the name of Allāh, ar-Raḥmān (the most merciful), ar-Raḥīm (the bestower of mercy).

Whilst visiting a bookshop in an Arab country, I came across a series of short story books aimed at Arab children, which would also be suitable for beginner Arabic language students. Unfortunately, the original story book contained pictures depicting the Ṣaḥābah, the parents of the Prophet ﷺ and others. Since there was no copyright information on the original booklet, I took it upon myself to extract the text from the booklet and present it in a study-resource format, whilst at the same time giving credit to the author.

The story was authored by Ahmad Sa’eed, and the imagery by Hani Shan; published by “Dar Zerrouk Edition et Diffusion”.

My only involvement was in extracting the text, reviewing it, compiling into a suitable format and checking for all ḥarakāt and tashkīl.

Although there is no copyright on the original story book, it is hoped – from the angle of al-amānah al-ilmiyyah – that anybody who downloads, prints or copies this booklet continues referencing the original author.

It is hoped this series will be utilised by parents, teachers and Arabic language institutions, as an aid for reading exercise.
