The sole reason Allah created all beings

Reference: Taysīr al-Karīm ar-Raḥmān fī Tafsīr Kalām al-Mannān (Tafsīr Aa-Sa’adi) – [51: 56-58]

Allāh, the glorified and most-high, said:

{وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ * مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ * إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ}

{I have not created jinn and mankind except to worship me. I do not want from them any sustenance, and I do not want they to feed me. Indeed, Allāh is the ar-Razzāq (the provider, the possessor of power and strength} [51: 56-58]

This is the objective for which Allāh created jinn and mankind, and the objective for which Allāh sent the messengers – to call their people to the worship of Allāh, which necessitates knowing and loving him, as well as repenting and turning to Allāh in servitude. It also necessitates rejecting and turning away from all false deities.

To accomplish this, one must first know Allāh. To perfect the worship of Allāh, a person must know Allāh. The more knowledge a person has of Allāh, the more complete and perfect his worship is. This is why Allāh, the most high, created the universe; He did not create jinn and mankind because he has a need of them, and he certainly does not require any sustenance or food from them.

Allāh is greater and self-sufficient to need anything from anyone. Creation, in its entirety, depends on the Creator’s sustenance in all of their needs and requests, whether essential or otherwise.

This is why Allāh said:

{Indeed Allāh is ar-Razzāq (the provider)}: He provides sustenance in abundance; there is no creature in the sky or earth, except that its sustenance is upon Allāh. He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterus, grave, etc.).

{The One who possesses all power and strength}: by which he created the enormous entities, low [in the earth] and high [in the heavens]. Due to this, he can command that which is seen as well as concealed. His will and decree are enforced and executed in all that he created. Whatever he has decreed is fulfilled instantly, and whatever he has not decreed can never occur.

Nothing can escape him, nor is anybody external to his dominion. From the clear proofs of his vast power and strength is the fact that his bounties and sustenance reach all creation.

Also, from the many proofs of his ability and power is that he can resurrect the dead even after their bodies have eroded; the winds have scattered their remains; their bodies have been swallowed by wild animals and birds; and even after their bodies have been scattered and torn to pieces in [the earth’s] wasteland and in the oceans waves.

No one among His creation will be missed by him, and he knows which ones of His slaves are yet to be buried in the earth.

Glorfied is he, possessing mighty strength.
