Question: Is it permissible to collect money for charitable projects and to sell Islamic books in mosques in France
Response: It is permissible to collect monetary donations in the masjid for charitable organisations, because this falls under cooperation upon righteousness and peity, as Allāh, the exalted said:
{وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى} المائدة: ٢
{And cooperate upon righteousness and piety} [05:02]
As for selling Islamic books inside masājid, this is not permissible, whether in France or anywhere else.
This is due to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:
“If you see someone selling inside the masjid, say [to him]: ‘May Allāh not grant profit to your trade.’”
Selling inside the masjid turns it into a marketplace, and masājid were not built for this purpose. They were built for the worship of Allāh, his dhikr (remembrance), and the teaching of knowledge.
Therefore, they should be protected from noise, raised voices, and worldly disputes.
It is permissible, however, to sell such books outside the masjid, near its doors.
Allāh is the granter of all success.

السؤال: هل يجوز جمع الأموال للمشاريع الخيرية وبيع الكتب الإسلامية في المساجد بفرنسا ؟
الجواب: يجوز جمع التبرعات المالية في المسجد للجمعيات الخيرية؛ لما في ذلك من التعاون على البر والخير.
وقد قال الله تعالى:
﴿وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى﴾ المائدة: ٢
فأما بيع الكتب الإسلامية بالمساجد فلا يجوز، سواء كان هذا في فرنسا أم غيرها؛ لقول النبي ﷺ: “إذا رأيتم من يبيع في المسجد فقولوا لا أربح الله تجارتك.”
ولما في ذلك من اتخاذها أسواقا، وهي لم تبن لذلك، إنما بنيت لعبادة الله وذكر الله وتعليم العلم ونحو ذلك، فينبغي أن تصان عما فيه صخب ورفع الأصوات ومثار الجدل والنزاع في شئون الدنيا، ويجوز بيعها خارجه عند أبوابه.
