Question: Our Shaykh, may Allāh preserve you… Do you have any advice for Muslims living in the West regarding events in the Muslim world, such as what is happening between Pakistan and Afghanistan — may Allāh unite the ranks of the Muslims… Many people, even some of our youth, speak, comment, and analyse these situations through political or emotional angles.
Response: All praise is due to Allāh, and may prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allāh, his family, his companions, and those who follow him.
I advise all Muslims — especially those who ascribe themselves to the Sunnah — to be mindful of Allāh, the exalted and majestic, and to hear and obey the Muslim rulers in what is right and lawful.
I also advise them with the statement of the Prophet ﷺ
‘Ibādah (worship) during times of turmoil — meaning killing and chaos — is like [the reward] of hijrah to me.
Imām Abu Ḥanīfah, raḥimahullah, was asked about the fighting that took place between the Companions. He said: “That was a tribulation in which our swords were not present, so we ask Allah to protect our tongues from it.”
I advise all the brothers living in the West to be mindful of Allāh, the exalted and majestic, and not to allow these wars to become a cause of division and dispute among themselves. Rather, they should raise their hands in humble supplication to Allāh to rectify the situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan and to bring security and safety to the lands of the Muslims.
Every rational and intelligent person – let alone a Muslim – realises that such wars are not in the interests of the Muslims, but rather in the interests of other nations.
So it is upon us to raise our hands in earnest supplication to Allāh, the exalted and majestic, to keep trials and tribulations away from among the Muslims and to reconcile the affairs between the leaders responsible for the security of the Muslims.
This is what is obligatory upon us.
And may Allāh send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muḥammad.

الواجب على المسلم تجاه اختلاف دول المسلمين
سؤال: شيخنا حفظكم الله، هل لكم توجيه للمسلمين في الغرب حول الأحداث في العالم الإسلامي مثل ما يحصل بين دولتي باكستان أفغانستان – وحد الله صف المسلمين… فقد وجدنا كثيرا من الناس – حتى بعض شبابنا يتكلمون ويعلقون ويحللون بتحليلات سياسية أو عاطفية.
الجواب: الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه، ومن ولاه وبعد:
فأنا أوصي المسلمين جميعاً، لا سيما المنتسبين إلى السنة، أوصيهم بتقوى الله جل وعلا، والسمع والطاعة لولاة المسلمين بالمعروف.
ثم أوصيهم بحديث النبي ﷺ: “العبادة في الهرج – يعني في القتل – كهجرة إلي”.
وسئل الإمام أبو حنيفة رحم الله عن القتال الذي جرى بين الصحابة، فقال: “تلك فتنة لم تشهدها سيوفنا، فنسأل الله أن يعصم منها ألسنتنا”.
فأنا أوصي الإخوة جميعاً ممن يعيشون في الغرب أن يتقوا الله جل وعلا، وأن لا يجعلوا هذه الحروب سبباً للاختلاف والتنازع فيما بينهم، وأن يرفعوا أكف الضراعة لله جل وعلا أن يصلح الحال بين باكستان وافغانستان، وأن يأتي بالأمن والأمان في بلاد المسلمين.
فإن كل عاقل فضلاً عن المؤمن يدرك أن هذه الحروب ليست في مصالح المسلمين، وإنما هي في مصالح غيرهم من الدول.
فعلينا أن نرفع أيدي الضراعة إلى الله جل وعلا أن يبعد الفتن فيما بين المسلمين، وأن يصلح ما بين ولاة أمن المسلمين.
هذا هو الواجب علينا وصلى الله وسلم على نبينا محمد.
