Question: [What is the ruling] regarding staying [the nights of Ayyaam at-Tashreeq (11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah)] in Minaa?
Response: [Some scholars] have mentioned that [staying the nights of Ayyaam at-Tashreeq in Minaa] is obligatory, so it is binding upon one who doesn’t spend the nights there to slaughter [a sacrificial animal]. [Other scholars] have stated that [staying the nights of Ayyaam at-Tashreeq in Minaa] is recommended, so there is nothing binding upon one who leaves them. And [those scholars] who held the opinion that it is an obligation said that it is sufficient to stay for the most part of at least two nights [i.e. the 11th and 12th day of Dhul-Hijjah] in Minaa [to fulfill this obligation]. However, if [a person] were to spend only one night [in Minaa] or [were to spend] less than half a night [for either night of the 11th and 12th day of Dhul-Hijjah], then [it is binding upon him] to slaughter [a sacrificial animal].
