The Shaykh (rahima-hullaah) mentions:

((There is no comparison between one who has knowledge and one who does not, just as there is no comparison between the living and the dead, and one who hears and one who is deaf, and one who can see and one who is blind.

Knowledge is light with which one is guided, and with it removes one from the darkness (of ignorance) to the light (of knowledge, i.e. Islaam).

With knowledge, Allaah raises the ranks of whom He wishes from His creation:

{Allaah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge}, [Soorah al-Mujaadalah, Aayah 11].))

Shaykh Ubayd ibn `Abdillaah al-Jaabiree said:

"If the scholars passed away, those whom Allaah has used to fight off and defeat innovations and its people and were mountains of knowledge, if they pass away, who would inherit them if we didn’t have any knowledge!!? Would the ignorant inherit them my sons!? Are the ignorant suitable for ruling, leading and guiding the people after them!? Never! They will be misguided and they will misguide the people. So from this perspective we are to be harsh on this brother of ours..."

The Salaf are not a Hizb

"The victorious group (Taa'ifatun Naajiyah) which was mentioned by the Messenger of Allaah (sallaAllaahu ‘alaihee wasallam) and which he described, is that which is upon what he and his companions were upon: they are the SALAFUS-SAALIH (righteous predecessors), then those who proceed upon their Manhaj, as the Most High has said:

{And the foremost to embrace Islaam from the Muhaajireen and the Ansaar and also those who followed them in goodness, Allaah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him. He has prepared for them gardens under which rivers flow, to reside therein forever. That is the great success.} (At-Taubah/100)

So this group, with this Manhaj is present in the whole Dunya (world), in every time and place, so it (the group) is not restricted to a particular country nor to a particular place and they are the Jamaa'ah of the Muslims, who proceed upon the truth and upon guidance. They may have an Imaam who leads them with the Book of Allaah and with the Sunnah of His Messenger, and in certain situations and at the appearance of Fitan (trials) they may not have an Imaam, as comes in the Hadith of Hudhyfah.

Along with this, the Salaf and those who follow them are the people of the Manhaj and they are not a Hizb, as we hear from some who have not even looked into their Manhaj nor their way. So if it is found that an individual affiliates to the Manhaj of the Salaf, then commits an error-as they are not infallible- then indeed his error is deemed upon him (he is taken into account for that) not the Manhaj. Along with this the people are not to be driven away from the truth, especially the youth, as driving them away from the Jamaa'ah of the Salaf or from the Manhaj of the salaf is a great crime upon the Islamic Ummah."

السلف و اتباعهم ليسوا حزبا

ÇáãÑÌÚ: البدعة - أصلها و أثرها السيئ على الأمة

ÇáÈÇÈ: المنهج

فالطائفة الناجية التي ذكرها رسول الله صلّى الله عليه و سلّم, و وصفها بانّها التي تكون على ما كان عليه هو و أصحابه: هم السلف الصالح, ثمّ السائرون على منهجهم, كما قال تعال: "و السابقون الاوّلون من المهاجرون و الانصار والذين اتّبعوهم باحسان رضي الله عنهم و رضوا عنه و اعدّ لهم جنات تجري تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ابداً ذلك الفوز العظيمز." ( التوبة: 100) فهذه الطائفة بهذا المنهج موجودة في الدنيا كلها, في كل زمان و مكان, فلا يحصرها بلد دون بلد, و لا مكان دون آخر, و هم جماعة المسلمين السائرون على الحق و الهدى, و قد يكون لهم امام يقودهم بكتاب الله و سنة رسوله, و قد لا يكون لهم امام في بعض الاحوال و عند ظهور الفتن, كما في حديث حذيفة. و هم السلف و اتباعهم – اهل منهج, و ليسوا حزباً كما نسمعه من لم ينظر في منهجهم و طريقتهم, و اذا وجد ان شخصاً انتسب الى منهج السلف, ثمّ ارتكب خطا – و هم ليسوا بمعصومين – فان خطاه يحسب عليه لا على المنهج, و لا ينفر الناس من الحق لا سيما الشباب, فتنفيرهم من جماعة السلف او منهج السلف جناية عظيمة على الامّة الاسلاميّة."
