Imaam Abu Haneefah (rahima-hullaah) said:

((When a hadeeth is found to be saheeh, then that is my madhhab)).

How is Hajr Practiced Correctly

Ahsan Allaah ilaykum wa baaraka feekum, O noble Shaykh, how is Hajr (boycotting) the people of innovations and the sinners practiced correctly according to the legislation of Islaam, how is it practiced correctly in order to accomplish the legislated goal of this great principal?

Firstly: Hajr is a principal for one who is able to practice it. Someone who is obeyed, his orders and prohibitions are obeyed by the people. Hajr of the people of innovations and sins is the principal for him until they return to their senses and to the truth.

However if this person is not one who is obeyed and the innovator has the upper hand, do not call to boycotting in this situation, and do not order the people to do so, but it is upon you to be wary of him (innovator). Do not visit or invite him and do not attend his gatherings. And if you were asked (about him) say:

“I do not trust neither my religion nor my self with him".

And I have already explained to you in another question (Dealings with the people of innovations) that the people of sunnah look at the benefits, they look at the benefits and the harms of an action, so if the benefits outweigh the harms in the boycotting, rebuking and warning against an innovator, they (Ahlus sunnah) boycott, rebuke and warn against him. And if the harms outweigh the benefits, and the people will turn against Ahlus sunnah then they do not boycott him, they only refute him with knowledge.

And this is why I say to you, those of you from Ahlus sunnah who are in a state of weakness, you hold tight to the Sunnah, and do not argue or dispute with those people, ignore them. If they (the people of innovations) were your Imaams [in prayer], then pray behind them and leave, and do not turn the masses of the people and those that do not have an understanding of the religion against you.

أحسن الله إليكم ، وبارك فيكم. هذا سائل يسأل ويقول:- فضيلة الشيخ: متى يكون الهجر هجراً صحيحا ً، شرعياً لأهل البدع ، وأهل المعاصي؟ متى يكون ذالك حتى يتحقق الغرض الشرعي من هذا الأصل العظيم؟

أولاً: الهجر هو الأصل، ممن قدر عليه، وكان مطاعاً يأتمر الناس بأمره، وينتهي بنهيه، هجر أهل البدع، وهجر أهل المعاصي هذا هو الأصل؛ حتى يعود إلى رشده، ويراجع الحق. لكن إذا كان هذا الشخص غير مطاع، والكفة الراجحة لذالك المبتدع، فهنا لا تدعوا إلى الهجر، ولا تأمر به. لكن لك أنت أن تحذره؛ فلا تـزوره، ولا تستزيره، ولا تحـضر مجالسه، فإذا سُئلت قل لا آمنه على ديني لا آمنه على نـفسي. وقد قدمت لكم أول الكلـمة، أظـن في أول سؤال، أو في ثاني سؤال، ولعله تـكرر، أن أهل السنة يراعون المصلحة؛ ينظرون في المصلحة، والمفسدة، فإذا كانت المصلحة راجحة في هجر المبتدع وزجره، والتحذير منه،هجروه وزجره وحذروا منه وهجروه وإذا كانت المفسدة أرجح، والناس يتألـبون على أهل السنة، فإنهم لا يهـجرونه، يكــتفون بالـرد العـلمــي، ولهذا أقول لكم يا أيها المستضـعفون من أهل السنة، اعتصـموا أنتم بالسـنة، ولا تجـادلوا هؤلاء، ولا تخـاصمـوهم، اضربوا عـنهم صفـحاً، إذا كان أئمتكم هؤلاء فصلوا معهم، ثم اخرجوا، ولا تهيجوا عوام الناس، ورَعاع الناس ، والذين ليس عندهم فقه في الدين عليكم
